Ayurveda, literally meaning “knowledge of life,” relies on natural and holistic (i.e., “whole body”) approach for better physical and mental health.

Developed in India more than 3,000 years ago, Ayurveda is one of the world’s oldest traditional medical systems. It is the perfect union of various products (obtained mainly from plants as well as animals, minerals, and metals), diet, and exercise for a wholesome lifestyle. Ayurveda is an amalgam of science and art that shows a “way of life” for complete good health.

With the growing pace and increasing stress, it is important to be healthy every day. Although treatments can be directed toward disease, Ayurveda does not aim to fight a particular disease but rather focuses on promoting good health and initiating healing. We already know that prevention is better than cure! Overall wellness means a balance between the body, mind, spirit, and energy.

There are many published scientific studies proving that Ayurvedic treatments are not only efficient but also safe.

Everyone has a unique pattern of energy made of their own physical, mental, and emotional features. Due to various factors in our daily life (diet, work, relationships, etc.), there can be an imbalance that may lead to health issues. It is upon us to strike a balance to maintain good health.

Ayurveda recognizes three fundamental types of energy present in everyone (and everything): “Vata,” “Pitta,” and “Kapha.” Vata, made up of Space and Air, is linked to movement; Pitta, constituting Fire and Water, influences the body’s metabolic system; and Kapha, comprising Earth and Water, establishes the body’s structure. We will learn about each of them in the upcoming blogs.
